In an email dated July 9, 2002, Adrienne Baxter Bell, who is compiling the catalogue raisonne of Charles Caryl Coleman's work, observed, "As for your... Coleman painting, Capri View... really should be called View of Monte Solaro, Capri. Monte Solaro is the highest mountain on the island, the place from which one derives a panoramic view. The view Coleman selected is one of the most popular, which suggests that he painted this work more for the commercial market than, strictly speaking, for himself."
